Here’s what we’re tracking this week:

📈 What’s Up?: A combination of cold weather, regional transitions, and tight European supply is driving price increases across several key items this week. Market Recap: What's Up, What's Down

📈Price Increases📈

These items are experiencing a price surge this week:

  • WHITE CREAMER C & YUKON CREAMER C POTATOES - Tough growing season this year resulting in tight supply on C size white creamer and Yukon potatoes.

  • FLAT RUNNER BEANS - Pricing remains volatile due to shifting availability of European products and ongoing fluctuations in freight costs.

  • TOMATOES - The peak tomato season in Mexico is ending, and production is shifting to a new region with significantly lower yields, causing elevated tomato prices expected to persist for the next few months.

  • HEIRLOOM TOMATOES - Ontario greenhouse picks are just beginning. Expect prices to remain elevated until volume increases with incoming crops.

  • RED SHEPPARD PEPPERS & LONG CHILI PEPPERS - Prices for long chili peppers and red sheppard peppers are rising due to limited supply as the Spanish season winds down. Holland peppers are delayed, with challenging weather conditions impacting their growth and availability.

  • RADICCHIO CASTEFRANCO, FRISEE, RED & GREEN BELGIAN ENDIVE - Prices are fluctuating due to variable European product availability and increased freight costs.

  • ASPARAGUS - Mexican asparagus prices are up due to reduced supply from poor weather conditions.

  • BUTTERNUT SQUASH - Colder-than-average temperatures in Mexican squash-growing regions are impacting yields, resulting in decreased supply in the coming weeks.

  • JALAPENO PEPPERS - Colder-than-usual weather in Mexican pepper-growing regions is impacting yields, leading to reduced supply in the coming weeks.

  • NAPA CABBAGE - Supply from Florida is limited, with challenging weather conditions affecting crop growth and quality. Expect ongoing availability constraints.

  • LIMES - Cold winter weather in key growing regions has reduced supply more than anticipated, driving prices upward. Availability is expected to improve in the coming weeks.

📉Price Drops📉

These items have dropped in price this week:

  • BOSC PEARS - Increased availability of Mexican asparagus is bringing prices down after earlier weather-related shortages.

  • BUTTER SALTED GAYLEA (6121) - Increased supply has helped bring down pricing on salted butter.

  • RED & GREEN SEEDLESS GRAPES - Prices are decreasing as better availability from Peru improves supply. Now’s a great time to stock up.

  • CHINESE EGGPLANTS - Better availability of Chinese eggplants has boosted supply, continuing to bring prices down this week.

🌟 New & Newsworthy🌟

Meet Lev Bakery * Local Producer!

In case you missed it, say hello to the newest member of the Bondi fam—Lev Bakery!

Founded by Yoni Kamil, Lev Bakery is the delicious result of 100 years of family baking history. Yoni grew up in his family’s bakery in Ottawa, where he fell in love with the craft, then took his skills to some of Toronto’s top kitchens—including six years as a head baker.

Lev combines tradition with innovation, baking handmade sourdoughs using transitional or organic flours that support regenerative farming. Instead of the usual strong bread flour, Lev opts for French T65 flour—creating a lighter, more delicate sourdough with an exceptional crumb and serious flavour.

Your bread service prayers have been answered. Now available: Lev’s par-baked sourdough loaves—fresh-from-the-oven quality without the 3AM wake-up call. Your guests get bakery-level bread, and you get all the credit (no overnight proofing required).

Intro Discounted Price!

We’re offering a special introductory price on the first 75 cases of par-baked artisanal white sourdough (11135).

Grab ‘em while they’re hot (or, you know, still par-baked).
