🚩Red Flags🚩: Last Week's Supply & Quality Recap
White Button Mushrooms - Increased demand and potential supply slowdowns due to heat waves and persistent hot, humid weather are typical for the end of August. We also see this during winter when extreme cold makes it challenging for grow rooms to moderate outside air before it reaches spores and blocks.
Yellow zucchini - The crop has been having a tough time this season. The plants are depleted, and there aren't many to be found. Unfortunately, diseases have wiped out 60% of the crops in Ontario and Quebec, causing ongoing shortages.
All Wrapped Up - Items on Hold or Finished for the Season:
Torpedo Shallots - Our suppliers are all out of the old crop of Torpedo shallots, and the new batch is running late this year. We expect to start picking them by the end of September. But don't worry, we've got plenty of regular shallots in stock!
St.Brigids Butter - We are temporarily out of stock. The next shipment is arriving on September 16th. Some new changes will kick in with our next restock in October.
Product Changes Ahead:
Corn - the 60ct corn is moving from Ontario to Quebec crop this week. If you’re looking for ontario you can order the Welsh Bros 48ct bags!
St.Brigids Butter - St. Brigid’s Creamery will be making product changes earlier than anticipated due to an unexpected surge in demand and production challenges. As a result, starting in October, there will be a slight price increase to cover increased operational costs. Initially forecasted for September 2025, these changes are happening 12 months ahead of schedule. St. Brigid’s has been actively working with the Dairy Farmers of Ontario to address these challenges and meet the growing demand for SBC butter.
