Market Recap – What’s up, what’s down

📈Price Increases📈

These items are experiencing a price surge this week:

  • EZZO PEPPERONI (code 8521) - Price increase due to recently escalating cost of pork & beef raw matierials and overall production cost for Ezzo to make the product.

  • GINGER ROOT (code 2538) - The recent strike at CN Rail has significantly affected the importation of Chinese agricultural products into Canada via British Columbia. Among the various crops, ginger has experienced the most severe disruption.

  • TOMATO CLUSTER 4/5 (code 7382) - Greenhouse crops have hit their lowest yield of the year. Prices have now stabilized and are expected to start dropping gradually. It's normal for greenhouses to have gaps in their product availability due to crop rotations or when they begin planting new crops.

📉Price Drops📉

These items have dropped in price this week:

  • GRAPE TOMATO (code 4643) - The local field grapes have contributed to a gradual reduction in costs. Prices are expected to remain in this range for approximately the next two months.

  • POMEGRANATES (code 4051) - The item has been restocked following a three-week shortage, and its price is now decreasing. Operations are returning to their usual state.

  • BRUSSELS SPROUTS (code 2225) - Price drop this week!

  • PEPPER GREEN FINGER HOT (code 3712) - A more consistent supply has led to a reduction in prices.

  • White Button Mushrooms - The heat and humidity are taking a toll on the growth of white mushrooms, leading to a shortage of button mushrooms, which are usually the last to be harvested.

  • Burrata Belgioioso - Production delay last week caused shortages but we are fully stocked and back on track!

  • Zucchini Flowers & Edible Flowers - Last week, a delivery from Fresh Origins encountered delays at customs, leading to shortages over the weekend. We are currently awaiting a new shipment and anticipate resuming normal operations by Wednesday of this week.
