Market Recap : Whatโ€™s up, whatโ€™s down

๐Ÿ“ˆPrice Increases๐Ÿ“ˆ

These items are experiencing a price surge this week:

  • KOHLRABI - In the next couple of weeks, we'll begin switching over to products from the USA, including items like kohlrabi. So, what you'll find at the market right now are either the last of the local crops or the first of the USA ones.

  • KALE BLACK AND RED - The Ontario supply is winding down, and we will be transitioning to Texas/Mexico.

  • CAULIFLOWER & ICEBERG LETTUCE - As we approach the transition season, the supply in California is starting to decrease. Operations are expected to commence in Yuma by the second week of November, with the anticipation of improved pricing approximately two to three weeks thereafter.

๐Ÿ“‰Price Drops๐Ÿ“‰

These items have dropped in price this week:

  • BLACKBERRY & BLUEBERRY - Good news! This week, supply has gotten better, which means prices have come back down after last week's increase.

  • SPINACH BUNCHES - Improved availability of supplies from California is contributing to a reduction in prices.

  • CANTALOUPE - California's season has come to an end, and now we're moving on to Arizona and Mexico for fruit with more competitive prices.

  • CUCUMBERS - Increased production at Ontario greenhouses means more availability!

๐ŸšฉRed Flags๐Ÿšฉ: Last Week's Supply & Quality Recap

  • Baby Kale/Leafy Greens - The baby kale industry is anticipated to face a challenging period over the next few weeks due to an impending shortage. This situation is expected to persist until operations commence in Yuma during the week of the 11th. Consequently, there will be supply gaps. The overall transition is set to intensify this week, with the most significant impact likely to be felt over the next two to three weeks.

  • Bell Peppers - Mexico is currently undergoing a transition in crop production from the Jalisco region to Sinaloa. As a result, prices are expected to increase for approximately two to three weeks until harvesting activities resume. A general reduction in prices for all varieties of peppers is anticipated during the first week of December.

  • Endive & Red Endive - We've experienced some shortages over the past week due to production and shipment delays. A new shipment is set to arrive today! We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

  • Taylor Swift Way - There's quite a buzz in the city about the Queen's upcoming visit! With all the excitement, we might experience some delivery delays downtown. We appreciate your patience during this time and suggest stocking up in advance to avoid any shortages. Thanks for understanding!

Wrapped Up!

  • All Pumpkins - The pumpkins have been set out by the curb, marking the end of their season. See you next year! ๐ŸŽƒ
