Tariffs Update - March 4
Everything you need to know about how this will impact your business.
Hi everyone,
We are writing to update you on recent developments in U.S.-Canada trade policies that could affect our supply chain.
U.S. tariffs on Canada officially went into effect at 12:01 AM this morning. In response, the Canadian government has imposed reciprocal tariffs on U.S. imports.
Trudeau has announced that Canada is officially imposing counter tariffs on several U.S.-imported items. We believe it is prudent to inform you of the potential impact on certain product categories.
What This Means For You
Affected U.S. Products
The Canadian government has retaliated with 25% counter tariffs on several U.S.-imported items, including:
Fruits: Grapefruit, Oranges, Lemons, Mandarins, and Peaches
Vegetables & Berries: Tomatoes, Raspberries, Blackberries, and Strawberries
Nuts & Seeds: Including Walnuts, Pecans, Cashews, Almonds, Dates, Dried Cherries, and Dried Cranberries
Future Impact
An expanded list of affected items is anticipated to be released within the next 21 days, potentially impacting a broader range of U.S. goods.
Supply Chain Considerations
Approximately 40% of our total product catalogue is currently sourced from the USA—a figure expected to rise in May and June as imports from Mexico decrease and we wait on our local season to start.
Our procurement team is actively exploring alternative sourcing options to mitigate any price increases on items that will be affected by these tariffs. Where sourcing outside of the U.S. is not possible, you can anticipate price increases on these items over the coming weeks.
We understand that these changes may raise questions, and we are committed to keeping you informed as the situation evolves. Please feel free to contact our sales team or reach out to [email protected] to discuss menu alternatives, and options to avoid commodities that may face an impact.
Thank you for your continued partnership,
