Tariffs Update

Everything you need to know about how this will impact your business.

Hi everyone,

We understand that the latest news about proposed US-Canada tariffs is raising concerns, and we want to keep you informed on how this may affect your business.

Just as we were emerging from a period of historic inflation, we are now facing the possibility of broad tariffs on Canadian exports and reciprocal tariffs on key US imports. Unless resolved quickly, these tariffs will impact pricing, product availability, and supply chain dynamics.

What This Means For You

✔️ As of February 4th, the Canadian government is proposing counter tariffs on several US-imported items, including:

  • Grapefruit, Oranges, Lemons, Mandarins, Peaches

  • Tomatoes, Raspberries, Blackberries, Strawberries

  • Nuts & Seeds (Walnuts, Pecans, Cashews, Almonds, Dates, Dried Cherries, Dried Cranberries)

✔️ Our procurement team is already taking proactive steps by sourcing from alternative growing regions to control costs and reduce disruptions. As we implement these adjustments, customers may notice substitutions in brands, pack sizes, and origins. We are confident that most items on the initial list can be promptly replaced with alternatives from different regions, and we will be making these changes soon.

✔️ A second list of impacted products is expected to be released in the coming days, with tariffs potentially taking effect in three weeks time if no resolution is reached.

✔️Everything in our inventory as of today was purchased prior to tariffs being implemented. Therefore, there is no immediate impact on pricing while we wait to see how things shake out.

✔️Now is a great time to make even more of an effort to support Canadian growers & vendors, where possible. Look for the local tag on products in our catalogue that indicate they are made here in Canada. You can also filter local products by using the Keyword Filter” search bar and search for “local”.

We believe in full transparency and will continue to monitor developments and communicate these updates with you as they unfold. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your sales rep or email [email protected].

Thank you,
Bondi Produce
