Market Recap: What's Up, What's Down

📈Price Increases📈

These items are experiencing a price surge this week:

  • ICEBURG LETTUCE (2657 & 2655) - Supply remains tight due to recent weather impacts, while demand has held steady.

  • TOMATOES (4674, 4675 & 4676) - Virginia round tomato season wrapped up earlier than expected, so supply has now shifted to California. Local field tomatoes are in very limited supply, with quality well below average.

  • GOLDEN PINEAPPLE (3040) - We’re currently in a supply gap, with a global shortage of pineapple limiting availability and increasing prices.

  • RED SEEDLESS GRAPES (2553) - We’ve transitioned from Mexico and are now into California seedless grape production.

  • PURPLE YAMS (4499) - “We’re currently in a supply gap, with new crop expected to arrive in the coming weeks.

  • LIMES (2718) - Prices are up as crops transition and weather impacts the growing region. Expect the market to stay elevated for the next couple of weeks.

  • STRAWBERRIES (3346) - After three weeks of stable pricing, tighter supply has pushed the market up despite only moderate demand.

  • TOMATILLOS (3436) - Limited supply out of Mexico, with rainy field conditions impacting quality, is driving prices up on tomatillos.

📉Price Drops📉

These items have dropped in price this week:

  • BRUSSELS SPROUTS (2225) - Improved supply has eased the market, bringing prices down.

  • HOT HOUSE TOMATOES & CLUSTER TOMAOTES (7381 & 7382) - Greenhouse supplies have ramped up quickly, with higher picks driving prices down to align with demand.

  • FINGERLING POTATOES (3076) - Switched to local crop, and prices have dropped with it.

  • HEIRLOOM TOMATOES (3423) - Greenhouse volumes are climbing fast, with stronger picks driving the market lower.

  • RED CREAMER C POTATOES (3092) - Switched to local crop, and prices have dropped with it.

  • BLACKBERRIES (2191) - Blackberry prices have come down on moderate supply and balanced demand.

🥔 Potato Update 🥔
