Market Recap – What’s up, what’s down
📈Price Increases this week 📈
These items are experiencing a surge in price this week:
Brussel Sprouts - Mexico is winding down, and we are waiting for Salinas products to start in mid-July. Local products will follow shortly after that. Expect the market to remain elevated with minor quality issues.
USA Raspberries & Blackberries
Chinese Eggplant - The market is very tight, and prices are expected to increase starting Thursday this week due to Mexico crops being affected by last week's rains.

Red Flags – Get the scoop on shortages
Short Ship Sparks Notes
Red Cabbage (code 2235 & 2239)- We’ve been having issues with red cabbage coming out of the USA. Local started this week and we should be smooth sailing for the next 6 - 8 months!
French Beans - The growing regions in Central and South America have been affected by rain and floods. We will start experiencing shortages from the vendor that may last between 2-3 months. This weekend, we received a large shipment that will most likely go fast. Local green beans are a good substitute for the season.
Brussel Sprouts - Mexico is winding down, and we are waiting for Salinas products to start in mid-July. Local products will follow shortly after that. Expect the market to remain elevated with minor quality issues.
Broccoli – The market is experiencing another extreme shortage of both 18ct and crowns. The terminal is very short or obsolete.
Okra - Tight market due to bad weather in south America, supplier constantly shorting orders & no availability at the market
All Wrapped Up!
These items are finished up for the season. Ask your rep for recommendations on substitutes.
Ontario Asparagus - The season is winding down! Welsh Bros is officially finished. Heritage Grown Ontario Asparagus is still available until the end of the week. Transitioning to the Peru and Mexico crops next week, expect a price increase.
St. Brigid’s Butter - They are having a gap in production. We will not have any available until next week.
Green Strawberries - Finished up for the season!
