Weekly Market Report for January 7th

Welcome to the first Bondi Weekly Market Report of 2025โ€”your go-to source for all the highs and lows of the week! Before we dive in, we want to take a moment to shout out all our amazing customers who made 2024 a year to remember. We truly appreciate your continued support and are excited to bring you more updates and opportunities in the year ahead. Now, let's jump into this week's market highlights!

Here's a little preview of what we've got lined up for the week:

๐Ÿฅ• Shortage Alert: Expect shortages on Baby Bunched Carrots, Heirloom Carrots, and Baby Bunched Beets in the coming weeks. Check below for available substitutes!

๐Ÿฅš Egg Shortage Update: The BC crisis has affected 1.2 million hens, putting strain on Canadaโ€™s egg supply. Today's shipment of Conestoga and regular eggs was delayed, but we're hopeful it arrives tomorrow. Thanks for your patience!

๐Ÿฅ› Yogurt Update: Ongoing shortages due to supplier production delays. Restocking next week, with deliveries resuming January 14th!

๐Ÿ‡ Grape Update: Red seedless grape prices from Peru are up due to limited supply across North America. Higher costs are expected to last for several weeks.

Market Recap: What's Up, What's Down

๐Ÿ“ˆPrice Increases๐Ÿ“ˆ

These items are experiencing a price surge this week:

  • BABY ZUCCHINI- Availability has been limited, causing the price to increase significantly this week. If you're able to switch to regular green zucchinis, nowโ€™s the time!

  • RED SEEDLESS GRAPES - The cost of red seedless grapes from Peru has gone up as a result of a limited supply in North America. These prices are expected to remain above seasonal costs for several more weeks.

๐Ÿ“‰Price Drops๐Ÿ“‰

These items have dropped in price this week:

  • TOMATOES - After a few weeks of prices increasing we are finally starting to see a drop as Florida tomato yields normalize. Prices have come down to normal seasonal costs.

  • GREEN GRAPES -We've made the switch to South Africa, and this change will lower prices!

๐ŸšฉRed Flags๐Ÿšฉ: Last Week's Supply & Quality Recap

  • Baby Bunched Carrots, Baby HRLM Carrots, and Baby Bunched Beets - For the next few weeks, we will be experiencing shortages on all three items due to cold weather slowing the growth. In the meantime, we'll be using peeled baby carrots with tops and whole beets as substitutes. If you prefer smaller beets, feel free to check out the options we have available from Cookstown!

  • Egg shortages- The Canadian egg market is facing significant challenges due to the crisis in British Columbia, where 1.2 million hens have been lost, putting a strain on supply across the country. We are now expecting a shipment of Conestoga and regular eggs to arrive tomorrow. We appreciate your patience this week as we navigate these shortages.

  • Mint - Last week, we ran into a bit of a mint shortage because some shipments were delayed by holiday closures. But good newsโ€”we're all sorted out now!

  • 0% Yogurt - Weโ€™re currently experiencing shortages of 0% yogurt due to a production delay from our supplier. Restocking is expected next week, with the next delivery available on January 14th. Our 5% yogurt remains in stock. Thank you for your understanding!

  • Shiso Leaves - All vendors are experiencing slow growth, leading to some shortages.

  • St. Brigids Butter - We are back in stock and ready for order!
