Market Recap: What's Up, What's Down

📈Price Increases📈

These items are experiencing a price surge this week:

  • PARTANNA OLIVE OIL - Due to ongoing freight increases and fluctuations in the US exchange rate, we’re experiencing a price increase on Partanna Olive Oil.

  • CHAYOTE - Chayote prices will remain high for the time being as the market transitions to Costa Rican product.

  • NAPA CABBAGE - Florida's Napa cabbage crop is transitioning to a new growing area, while Mexico's supply is struggling with subpar quality.

  • RED SWISS CHARD - As a result of fluctuations in the US exchange rate, we’re experiencing a price increase in our Red Swiss Chard.

📉Price Drops📉

These items have dropped in price this week:

  • ASPARAGUS - Mexican asparagus yields are increasing nicely, driving more competitive pricing.

  • SHISHITOS - Increased supply of shishito prices has continued to drop prices this week.

  • ROMANESCO - Romanesco prices have come down with the transition from US to Mexican supply.

  • MINI CUCUMBERS - Mini cucumber prices peaked last week and are starting to ease slightly, but expect them to stay elevated for the next month or so.

  • HOT BANANA PEPPERS - Increased supply from Florida is resulting in an increased supply and more competitive pricing on hot banana peppers.

  • CELERY STALKS - An increase in supply has resulted in a price drop in celery.

  • HOT HOUSE TOMATOES - Hot House tomatoes from Mexico are seeing increased availability, driving prices down.

🚩Red Flags🚩: Last Week's Supply & Quality Recap

  • Potato Yukon Peeled (code 03534) – There was a sudden spike in demand of our Yukon peeled potatoes resulting in some shorts last week, but inventory levels were quickly replenished next day and supply is stable.

  • Raspberries (code 3227) – Limited availability due to inclement weather in our partners’ main growing region. Supply remains tight.

  • Chestnut Mushrooms (code 10273) – Slow Growth – Our grower is facing challenges with slow growth, leading to limited availability. However, we’ve got some stunning Yellowfoot (code 6886), Fresh Porcini (code 8328), and Fresh Morels (code 5062) available in limited supply as we kick off our Wild & Cultivated offering for the year.

  • Pacific Oat Milk ( code 06075) – Last week’s freight delay caused shortages, but we’re expecting a shipment to arrive today.

  • Frozen Raspberry Purée (code 8851) – Another freight delay impacted Boiron Raspberry Purée supply last week. We have supply on hand now!

  • Cut Sprout Cilantro (code 7756) – Our grower is experiencing slow growth, so we’ve made substitutions with our living cilantro to ensure availability.
